Impact
Our oceans – a vital resource and a vulnerable ecosystem.
The oceans are vital to our planet, covering over 70% of its surface. They are not just large bodies of water; they are vibrant ecosystems that support life. The oceans remind us of how everything on earth is connected, playing a crucial role in sustaining life. Countless species lives in the oceans, from microscopic plankton to majestic whales. They help regulate our climate, produce half of the oxygen we breathe, and provide food and livelihoods for billions of people. Each wave reflects the vitality and resilience of nature, reminding us of the oceans’ generous role in sustaining life.
The oceans are powerful yet fragile, facing threats from pollution, overfishing, and climate change. These challenges impact the health of our oceans and by extension – our own. However, this vulnerability inspires us to take action. We have the ability to protect and preserve the oceans, ensuring they remain a vital resource for future generations.

Our impact strategy
Understanding the vital role our oceans play in shaping the climate and supporting human well-being, we have crafted a strategy to initially become a global leader in sustainable blue food. Inspired by the urgency of the challenges facing our oceans, as outlined in the UN Ocean Decade Challenges, we are committed to advancing innovative and sustainable solutions that promote sustainability, protect marine ecosystems, and ensure a thriving future for both people and the planet.

Our goals
At the heart of our mission is a deep commitment to the oceans – a promise to help shape a future where both people and nature can thrive. We believe meaningful change starts with bold action. Our overarching goals are to reduce our carbon footprint and improve ocean biodiversity.
Within Blue Food, we aim to cut our CO₂ equivalent emissions from 6 kg to 3 kg per kilogram of product by 2035. We’ll achieve this through energy efficiency, sustainable sourcing, and innovative technologies across our supply chain.
We’re also committed to restoring biodiversity by advancing how we source our ingredients. While all our ingredients are selected with care for environmental impact, by 2035 we aim for 50% of our portfolio to consist of “Next Generation Ingredients” – sourced through innovative, low-impact methods that support ocean health.

Our Blue Food pledges to drive transformation
- Driving the protein shift
We’re on a mission to elevate blue food as an alternative to red meat, inspiring a movement towards more sustainable protein choices that nourish both people and the planet. - Securing resilient sourcing
We are dedicated to crafting a resilient sourcing strategy, and work systematically to promote sustainable sourcing of blue food, both for people and planet. - Advancing sustainable production
We are committed to advancing sustainable production methods by concretizing our environmental strategy, understanding its impact on our value chain, and measuring its effectiveness. - Creating innovative offerings
At the core of our vision lies a passion for innovation. We’re aiming to adopt circular solutions and crafting products that not only minimize their environmental impact but also revolutionize the blue food category.
