Korshags Accelerates the Transformation of the Seafood Category – Launches Frozen Land Based Salmon
Korshags, with roots and operations in Falkenberg, has long been committed to raising the bar for quality, craftsmanship, and sustainability within seafood. The company is now taking a clear step forward in driving sustainable transformation in the seafood category by launching frozen, land-based premium salmon supplied by the world-leading producer Salmon Evolution.
The launch is part of Korshags’ long-term strategy to scale more sustainable raw materials across multiple categories within blue food. In 2025, the company has already introduced two hand-smoked products based on the same raw material; the offering is now expanded with a frozen alternative designed for broader distribution and higher volumes.
“The seafood category is facing a necessary transition. With land-based salmon, we can combine high quality and exceptional taste with a farming method that benefits the oceans and animal welfare. This is not a niche project, but a concrete step toward the future of salmon,” says Sofia Ek, responsible for innovation at Korshags and CMO at Ocean Collective.
The salmon is farmed in a closed, land-based system in Hustadvika on Norway’s west coast. By using filtered seawater and maintaining full control over the farming process, the impact on the marine environment and the risk of disease is minimized, while escapes are completely eliminated and waste can be recovered and used for biogas and fertilizer. The result is an ASC-certified salmon with high standards of animal welfare and consistently high quality.
